Vietnam has targeted to make construction material export turnovers of 1 billion U.S. dollars in 2010, up from 100 million dollars in 2005, according to the Vietnam Construction Materials Association on Tuesday.
Vietnam has eyed an annual construction material export growth of 25 percent between 2006 and 2010, Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Materials Association Tran Van Huynh said.
Between 25 percent and 30 percent of the country's construction material output, mainly construction stones, ceramic and granite tiles, sanitary ware and bricks, are expected to be sold overseas in the period, the Chairman said.
Local enterprises are further exploiting traditional markets, including the European Union, the United States, Japan, South Korea and China's Taiwan, seeking new ones, intensifying trade promotion, and improving their products' quality, he added.
Vietnam has annually exported 9-10 percent of its construction material output in recent years, much lower than that of other regional countries. In 2005, construction material export value accounted for only over 0.3 percent of the country's total export revenues.
